Cong waves corruption tag at BJP

The Gujarat Congress on Sunday released a ‘Black Paper’ on corruption in the state under the BJP government,as it detailed its plans for a statewide agitation against the Narendra Modi government.

The Gujarat Congress on Sunday released a ‘Black Paper’ on corruption in the state under the BJP government,as it detailed its plans for a statewide agitation against the Narendra Modi government.

“Modiji’s slogan that he is not corrupt and hence won’t allow corruption (in the state) is nothing but an utter lie,” said Gujarat Congress president Siddharth Patel.

Referring to the recent arrest of junior Home Minister Amit Shah in connection with the Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter case,Patel said: “An immoral nexus of police officers, bureaucrats and politicians has come into existence — exploiting the innocent people. Over 270 people have complained before CBI,probing the

fake encounter case,by filing affidavits.”

Patel said the corruption prevailing in Gujarat cannot take place without the knowledge of the chief minister.

Alleging various cases of corruption, from misuse of NREGA funds to that of illegal mining, which is believed to have led to the murder of RTI activist Amit Jethava, among others,Patel said that in the statewide 13 meetings from Monday till August 19 they will highlight the corruption of the state BJP government.

Later in the day, state government spokespersons Jaynarayan Vyas and Saurabh Patel in a press statement said the Congress has not been able to stop the immense popularity of the chief minister in the last 10 years despite repeated attempts.

Terming the allegations levelled by Congress as a lie, they said Modi wore the protective shield accorded by five and a half crore Gujaratis.
