Peugeot to set up plant at Sanand

Ahmedabad: French auto major PSA Peugeot Citroen is likely to announce soon its plans to set up a manufacturing facility in Bol village of Sanand taluka near here,with an investment of Rs 4,000 crore. “Peugeot is likely to ink an MoU with the Gujarat government this week to set up the plant. The land required for the plant is nearly 150 acres,” a top state government official said. Top PSA officials had met Chief Minister Narendra Modi in June last.

Cong MP wants nod for medical colleges

Ahmedabad: Pravin Rashtrapal,the Congress member of Rajya Sabha,has urged Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to see that Gujarat does not suffer in approvals for new medical colleges just because one erring president of Medical Council of India happened to be from the state. He urged the minister to see that application for opening government medical colleges at Jeethri Gotri and Vadodara is accepted.

Public consultation on Lokpal bill

Ahmedabad: A public consultation on the various versions of the draft Lokpal bills or frameworks will be held at St Xavier’s College in Ahmedabad between 1 pm and 3 pm on Thursday.

Points raised would be forwarded to Parliament’s Standing Committee in-charge of drafting the bill.

Traffic police collect Rs 9 crore as fine

Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad Traffic Police has collected Rs 9.23 crore as fine from people found breaking the traffic rules during a drive between January and August this year.
