50 Armymen decorated with medals

The investiture ceremony of the Indian Army's Southern Command was held at the Town Hall in Gandhinagar on Thursday,wherein 50 awards were given to officers and personnel below the officer ranks.

The investiture ceremony of the Indian Army’s Southern Command was held at the Town Hall in Gandhinagar on Thursday,wherein 50 awards were given to officers and personnel below the officer ranks.

The General Officer Commanding in Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Indian Army’s Southern Command,Lieutenant General Pradeep Khanna,presented the gallantry awards. Out of the 50 awards,four were presented posthumously.

The Sena Medal (Gallantry) was presented to Colonel Kalliad Thazhathuveettil Gopala Krishnan,Major Sushil Kumar Pandey,Major Sangram Singh Rathore,Major Vikramjit Singh Sahi,Major Har Agam Pal Singh,Major Balakrishna Menon,Major Sidhewar Prasad Dwivide,Major Manish Kumar Singh Rathore,Major Uma Shankar,Major VK Gopalakrishnan,Major Sumeet Malhan,Captain Chetan Vijay Dhawad,Captain Vikalp Sharma,Captain Sapkal Vinayak Ramachandra,Naib Subedar Anil Kumar,Havildar Om Singh Shekhawat,Havildar Mahendra Kumar Sharma,Naik Mohammed Amin Bhat,Naik Tej Pal Singh Shekhawat,Lance Naik Uday Thaikar,Lance Naik Bhoyar Vithoba Namdeo,Lance Naik Sajad Ahmed Wani,Sep Kore Pravin Kumar Sudam (Posthumous),Sapper Uma Shankar Joshi,Sapper Ramdas and Sawar Chaudhari Rajesh Kumar Virsang Bhai (Posthumous).

The Vishisht Seva Medal was presented to Major General Sisir Subhra Sengupta,Major General Yugal Kishore Sharma,Major General JS Sidhu,Brigadier Bhal Chandra Bapusaheb Patil,Brigadier Nariamparambil George,Brigadier Tara Kant Sinha,Brigadier Sanjay Moriramji Holey,Brigadier Devendra Kapur,Brigadier Rajeevan Gopalakrishnan,Brigadier Ramachandran Suresh,Brigadier Sarvesh Dangwal (Retired),Brigadier VS Kandari,Brigadier RN Malaldan,Brigadier Prakash Singh,Brigadier Rajendra Prasad Choubey,Brigadier Datla Satya Chander Varma (Retired),Colonel Virendra Singh Vhalothia,SM,Colonel V Manivannan (Posthumous) and Colonel Andrew Abraham.

Colonel Harjinder Singh,Colonel Ravi Kumar Radhakrishnan,Lieutenant Colonel Amod Chadha,Subedar Major Khandagale Maruti Narayan and Lance Naik K Sivaji Ro (Posthumous) were honoured with the Sena Medal (Distinguished Service).

Military bands from EME Centre,Mahar Regimental Centre,Para Regimental Centre and ASC Centre (South) gave performances on the occasion.
