Gold Rate Today: The 24-karat gold rate in India has fallen by 2%, or 21,600 per 100 grams, over the last ten days, according to GoodReturns.

Traditionally, August, September, and October used to witness high demand for gold and jewellery due to the festive season, with Ganesh Chaturthi, Navaratri, and Diwali approaching.

However, with gold prices in India reaching record highs previously, purchasers are now more cautious and delaying large jewellery purchases, but the steady reduction in yellow metal rates has restored optimism.

The price of gold in India today, August 19, is ₹10,075 per gram for 24-karat gold, ₹9,235 per gram for 22-karat gold, and ₹7,556 per gram for 18-karat gold.

The most expensive type of gold is 24-carat gold, commonly used for investment purposes. In contrast, 22-carat gold and 18-carat gold are primarily used in jewellery.
