Demand for freshers highest in recruitment and IT industries: Report

According to talent platform foundit, the recruitment/staffing industry share for job postings for freshers was 22 per cent, followed by IT-Software, Software Services at 19 per cent.

The highest share of job positing for freshers, as in May 2023, was by the recruitment/staffing industry, followed by the IT industry, a report released by foundit (formerly Monster APAC & ME) on Thursday said.

According to talent platform foundit, the recruitment/staffing industry share for job postings for freshers was 22 per cent, followed by IT-Software, Software Services at 19 per cent. Meanwhile, other industries which topped the list were BPO/ITES at 10 per cent, education at 5 per cent and healthcare at 4 per cent share.

The report also found that the demand for freshers has increased by 4 per cent over the last six months.

Around 92 per cent postings for freshers across industries were for in-office roles, while remaining jobs postings were for hybrid (4.2 per cent) and work-from-home (3.8 per cent ) job roles.

foundit CEO Sekhar Garisa, on the need for skilling, said, “Improved initiatives for skill development in the educational system can close the employability gap in the Indian market. The L&D initiatives of India Inc. have also been crucial in bridging the skill gap among freshers.”

“To provide career development support and offer skill-based certifications to entry-level professionals in India, we at foundit are launching the second edition of Aspire – our virtual career fair for freshers and young professionals from 31 May to 2 June 2023. The career fair will connect job seekers with top employers in India and bring together credentialed candidates for these employers,” foundit CEO said.

The report further stated that Bengaluru emerged as the top location for fresher hiring with the highest salary packages. At 12.4 per cent, Bengaluru topped the list, while, Mumbai followed at 12.1 per cent.

Meanwhile, Delhi/NCR, followed by Pune, Chennai, and Hyderabad were the top locations hiring freshers, the foundit report stated.
