SATTE 2012 begins in Pragati Maidan

SATTE is South Asia’s leading B2B travel and tourism trade exhibition.

SATTE,South Asia’s leading B2B travel and tourism trade exhibition is being held in New Delhi from February 10-12.

SATTE 2012,which serves the inbound,domestic and outbound markets,is being organized by UBM India in collaboration with CII and the UNWTO in a back to back event – first in Delhi and then in Mumbai from February 15-16. Industry leaders from the hotels,airlines,travel and tour and tourism offices from the various state governments and international offices will be present at the event.

International tourist arrival in India is expected to grow with a CAGR of 7.9 per cent for the period spanning 2010-2015 and Indian outbound tourist departure is expected to reach 20.5 million by 2015. ”With strong support from the government and the Incredible India campaign,which has attracted FDI investment in hotel and tourism sector of more than $ 750 million in the year 2010-11,the sector is definitely signs of growth that need to be nurtured with strong networking and strengthened with a robust infrastructure. SATTE 2012 facilitates that exactly,” said Sanjeev Khaira,MD,UBM India.

Khaira adds: ”The tourist today has evolved. They look out for destinations that are different. Smart destinations will no longer just pursue more tourists per se… instead,they are focusing more on the types of tourists they need and matching these to the most suitable areas and communities within their country. As a result,economic benefits will be maximised,while social and environmental costs are kept to a minimum.”

SATTE 2012 has over 500 different exhibitors,including country pavilions of USA,Australia,Canada,Belgium,Italy,United Kingdom,Thailand,and Singapore,top hotel groups and tour operators like.
