That the government has kept this core element in the new rural job guarantee framework and has enhanced the guaranteed days of employment to 125 from 100 is welcome. But, transferring the burden of the scheme's funding to states and pausing employment guarantee during the peak agriculture season are not good ideas

This Bill must be comprehensively rejected. MGNREGA has had many problems, but it has served rural India well and served India extremely well in times of economic distress. Much could have been strengthened within its own framework

New Delhi, Feb 08 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday interacted with over 230 youth, who have been working in rural areas under the Prime Minister's Rural Development Fellows (PMRDF) Scheme of the Ministry of Rural Development. Several participants shared their thoughts on themes such as development of the North-East, rural education, tribal development, organic farming, and welfare of the disabled with PM Modi. The PM appreciated the participants for working with dedication and devotion in rural and backward areas of the country, often withstanding peer and family pressures. The Prime Minister also released a book "Scripting Change", which visually demonstrates the essence of the work being done by PMRD Fellows across the country.
