ABOUT Rakesh Roshan

Rakesh Roshan: From Supporting Roles to Defining Bollywood's Sci-Fi Landscape Rakesh Roshan, born September 6, 1949, is a multifaceted figure in Hindi cinema, having served as an actor, producer, director, and screenwriter. His acting career, spanning the 1970s and 80s, saw him predominantly in supporting roles across 84 films. However, his directorial ventures propelled him to greater prominence. Starting in 1987, Roshan's directorial work is marked by a distinct pattern: film titles commencing with the letter "K". This includes successful action dramas like Khudgarz (1987) and Khoon Bhari Maang (1988), the action-comedy Kishen Kanhaiya (1990), the melodramatic thriller Karan Arjun (1995), and the iconic musical romantic thriller Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai (2000), which earned him Filmfare Awards for Best Film and Best Director. This success continued with the science fiction film Koi... Mil Gaya (2003) and its commercially successful superhero sequel series, Krrish (2006-2013). These films cemented his status as a highly successful filmmaker, particularly in the science fiction genre. Roshan's contributions significantly shaped the course of Bollywood's cinematic landscape, leaving an enduring legacy.
