Rajmohan Unnithan, born on June 10, 1953, in Kilikollur, State of Travancore–Cochin (present-day Kollam, Kerala), is a prominent figure in Indian politics and cinema. He is a member of the Indian National Congress and represents the Kasaragod constituency in the Lok Sabha. He completed his education at Sree Narayana College, Kollam. His early life was marked by a keen interest in politics, which eventually led him to join the Indian National Congress.
His political journey began with his involvement in the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), where he served as a spokesperson. His political acumen and dedication to public service led him to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India’s Parliament.
In the 2019 general elections, he contested from the Kasaragod constituency. He won the seat with a margin of 40,438 votes against the Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate K. P. Satheesh Chandran. This victory marked a significant milestone in his political career, reinforcing his position as a strong leader within the Indian National Congress.
His political career has not been limited to his Parliament Member role. In 2015, he served as the Chairman of the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC). In 2018, he resumed his role as a spokesperson for the KPCC.
Apart from his political endeavours, he has established a notable career in the Malayalam film industry. He performed in both amateur and professional plays and theatre during his time in college. Starring alongside Suresh Gopi, "The Tiger" (2005) was his debut film. Since then, he has played political roles in many Malayalam films, such as "Balram vs. Tharadas" (2006), "Vaasthavam" (2006), and "Smart City" (2006).
