As per the provisions of the Gujarat Panchayats Act, Gujarat has 10 per cent reservation for OBC communities in the elections of gram panchayats. The SEC Secretary also mentioned that this was in view of the order of the Supreme Court dated May 10, 2022.

Jat quota row: All-party meeting held in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, Feb 19 (ANI): An all-party meeting called by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar was held in Chandigarh to discuss the rising demand for Jat reservation. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Jawahar Yadav said the meeting had been called to find a solution regarding the BJP-supported reservation issue. Jat community in Haryana has been repeatedly demanding reservation in government jobs and educational institutions under the Other Backward Class (OBC) category.
