Pampore encounter: Fire breaks out at EDI building

Pampore (Jammu and Kashmir), Feb 21 (ANI): A fire broke out at the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) building in Jammu and Kashmir's Pampore area, from where nearly 100 people had been evacuated to safety following an encounter between security forces and terrorists. An Army Captain was among two army personnel who lost their lives on Sunday, taking the death toll to five in the two-day operation. According to police officials, the operation might be prolonged as militants seem to be heavily armed.

Police arrest Maoist commander, recover arms and ammunition in Gaya

Gaya, Jan 16 (ANI): The Police arrested a Maoist commander and also recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition during a combing operation in Gaya, Bihar. Police had received information about the Maoist’s movement on January 13. Acting on the tip-off, police and officials of paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) conducted a combing operation in Gaya district. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Gaya, Garima Malik said they recovered AK-56 rifle, 102 live cartridges and other items from the commander. However, the Maoists claim to be fighting for the rights of peasants and landless labourers as they routinely call strikes, attack government property and target politicians and police.
