The duo agreed to descend the tower only after Sardar Sarovar Punarvasahat Agency (SSPA) officials assured them that their demands would be forwarded to the government, sending out an urgent letter to reassure them.

The Gujarat government, through a letter dated August 21, 2021, demanded Rs 2448.83 crore of central funds for providing relief during the cyclone, but only Rs 1,000 crore was allocated by the Centre, the state government admitted in response to a separate question asked by Congress MLA Geniben Thakor.
