The court was hearing a plea filed by Madhyamam Broadcasting Ltd, which owns the channel, challenging the Kerala High Court’s March 2 order upholding the Centre’s decision to bar telecast, following the Ministry of Home Affairs’ refusal to grant security clearance.

On January 31, the I&B Ministry, citing denial of security clearance by the MHA, had revoked the uplink and downlink permission granted to Madhyamam Broadcasting Limited which operates MediaOne channel.

Justice N Nagaresh while extending the interim order also reserved judgment on the pleas moved by Madhyamam Broadcasting Ltd -- which operates MediaOne -- its employees and a journalists union challenging the Centre's decision to bar telecast of the news channel.

On January 31, hours after the ministry barred the transmission of the channel, the latter's management moved the High Court, which, in an interim directive, deferred the implementation of the ban order.
