Boman Irani: Hirani, Sircar's films closest to Bimal Roy's

January 22, 2016 4:14 am

Mumbai, Jan 22 (ANI): Famous Bollywood actor Boman Irani, known for his variety of roles he has played, said that he was a fan of old classics. And that is probably why he was asked to launch Zee Classic's latest offering 'The Bimal Roy Festival' in Mumbai. When asked who he thinks is the next Bimal Roy in current lot of directors, the 'Munna Bhai MBBS' actor said it would be unfair to pick among the current talent. But, Boman did name two of his favourite Bollywood directors whose films are closest and relevant to films made by legendary director Bimal Roy. Speaking on the occasion, Boman said that India should make world cinema but qualitatively good films as well. Boman also recounted the experience of watching Bimal Roy's films on Doordarshan during his childhood and getting influenced by his work.
