How often do war heroes get public recognition? Unfortunately, it’s when they die, they are remembered. Not that members of the defense forces demand attention but recognition and appreciation is one way of thanking the people who guard the country while it’s citizens breathe easy.
As one such gesture, former Indian Air Force pilot Harish Nayani who is now captain with Indigo Airlines announced the presence of war 1999 Kargil War hero Naik Deep Chand who had lost both his legs and right arm during the war. Other 180 passengers received the news with a huge applause.
The information was shared by Nayani’s friend and former IAF fighter pilot himself, Rajiv Tyagi, on Facebook, which struck a chord with many. The status has been shared over 3500 times and received over 17K likes.
“This is all the recognition war heroes need, for acts no nation can repay them for,” Tyagi writes.
