South Africa bowled out India for 215 in the first innings on Day 1 in Nagpur. (Source: AP)
India, after being bowled out for a paltry 215 by South Africa, took wickets before the close of play on Day 1 of third Test in Nagpur to leave the Proteas reeling at 11/2. The visitors still strail India by 204 runs. Earlier, India batsmen found the outing difficult against Morne Morkel (3/38) and Simon Harmer (4/78) and failed to make it count on a slow and dry VCA pitch.

1630 hrs IST: First runs for South Africa after first two overs which produced no run
That’s 2 full overs and Ishant has kept his new pony in tact. Much improved bowler indeed #INDvSA #IndvsSA @IExpressSports

1605 hrs IST: ALL OVER! India bundled out for 215. Harmer pick of the bowlers for visitors with figures of 4/78. For India, Jadeja (34) and Saha (32) pushed the total after Vijay’s (40) fluent hand at top of the order

1540 hrs IST: 200 comes up for India. Saha moves to 32 with that boundary
1530 hrs IST: Morkel in pain, he leaves the field. Looks like pulled a muscle there
Hopefully not serious damage for Morne Morkel. Could be the turning point of the game if it is.

1520 hrs IST: With the pitch assisting the slow bowlers, how much is too much?
#INDvSA, 3rd Test What is a good total on this pitch? https://t.co/kxdfdghljy

1505 hrs IST: WICKET! Rabada breaks the steady stand. Jadeja departs after scoring a 54-ball 34
1455 hrs IST: Jadeja and Saha doing a fine job for the hosts. The steady stand scoring some crucial runs
1435 hrs IST: And, Tahir into the attack
Break is a potential wicket-taker on this pitch…will we finally see Tahir bowling a proper spell? Has bowled only 2 overs thus far…
— Aakash Chopra (@cricketaakash) November 25, 2015
1410 hrs IST: Tea has been taken. India 149/6. Jadeja and Saha in the middle for the hosts
1355 hrs IST: Jadeja playing positive cricket in the middle. He has looked comfortable facing the spinners so far

1330 hrs IST: WICKET! Appeal and up goes the finger. Harmer gets Rohit out bat-pad. India lose their sixth, 125/6
That spell by Morne Morkel was as good a spell of reverse swing as any. From someone you thought was a back of a length hit the deck bowler
— Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) November 25, 2015
1310 hrs IST: On a turning strip, Morkel has picked three wickets so far. Quality stuff from the seamer
1305 hrs IST: Two new men in the middle now. South Africa would like to wrap the innings in a hurry now. Pressure on the hosts
1300 hrs IST: WICKET! Morkel bowling a fine fine spell. Scalps big fish Virat Kohli who plays one away from his body to edge it to Vilas behind the stumps. Half the side back in the hut, 116/5
1250 hrs IST: WICKET! Rahane gets another start but throws it away. The Morkel delivery wasn’t there for the drive and it sneaked through the gate to disturb the woodwork. India lose their fourth. 115/4
1230 hrs IST: Counter-attack! Rahane dances down the track and lofts it for a maximum. Positive approach, perfect execution
1220 hrs IST: WICKET! Loud shout and up goes the finger. Harmer attacks the stumps and traps Pujara in front. India lose their third. 94/3
1210 hrs IST: Teams out in the middle for the afternoon session. First session was shared, makes this session very crucial. Will be interesting to see how the pitch behaves

1110 hrs IST: Virat Kohli is the new man in the middle. India in need of a steady stand here. Can’t afford to lose a wicket before Lunch
1107 hrs IST: WICKET! Ball of the morning…Morkel gets one to shape away from Murali Vijay and hits the opener’s pads in line of the stumps. It would have crashed into the middle-stump. India lose the set opener for 40. 69/2
Morkel gets the in-form batsman. Vijay departs #IndvsSA https://t.co/gykg6Abtvk

1100 hrs IST: It’s turning out to be a very good toss to win for India. Life will get difficult on this strip for batsmen as the match progresses
1040 hrs IST: Tahir into the attack now. Plenty of spin from the Proteas
1038 hrs IST: WICKET! Elgar tosses one up, Dhawan steps out, drives but fails to make good connection. The slow delivery takes the bottom off his blade and the bowler completes a sharp low catch off his own bowling. India 50/1
1035 hrs IST: Fifty-run partnership between Dhawan and Vijay comes up. The right-hander doing bulk of the scoring
1020 hrs IST: Vijay attacks Harmer and it goes the distance. Used his feet well there. Vijay vs spinners promises to be an exciting battle. The ball is turning!

1015 hrs IST: Spin from both ends now. Mohali hero Dean Elgar into the attack
1010 hrs IST: Early spin! Simon Harmer into the attack. Will be interesting to see how the pitch behaves now
The ball is leaving like Morne Morkel and reaching like Rajat Bhatia…….
— Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) November 25, 2015
0955 hrs IST: Morkel working decent pace but nothing in the strip for the lanky seamer
Pace and bounce from Morkel. Vijay tries to evade. #IndvsSA https://t.co/6hdE0chag7
— BCCI (@BCCI) November 25, 2015
0945 hrs IST: Steady start by India so far. Very little help for the bowlers in the first four overs. Spin should come early into play
0933 hrs IST: One seamer, three spinners. Perfect team selection, feels Sanjay Manjrekar
Perfect team selection by India. Perfectly suited for the conditions. #indvsa

0932 hrs IST: South Africa XI – South Africa XI – Stiaan van Zyl, Dean Elgar, Faf du Plessis, Hashim Amla(C), AB de Villiers, Jean-Paul Duminy, Dane Vilas(WK), Kagiso Rabada, Simon Harmer, Morne Morkel, Imran Tahir
0931 hrs IST: India XI – Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli(C), Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Wriddhiman Saha(WK), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Amit Mishra, Ishant Sharma
0930 hrs IST: The two teams are out in the middle. Out come the Indian openers – who looked solid before rain washed out four days in Bengaluru. South Africa, without Steyn, have work to do
Looks like a pitch curated by The Undertaker. Maybe BCCI’s tribute to the legend on his 25th anniversary #IndvsSA @IExpressSports
— Bharat Sundaresan (@beastieboy07) November 25, 2015
0920 hrs IST: More importantly, good toss to win?
#IndvsSA, 3rd Test Right decision to bat first by India? On this strip? https://t.co/kxdfdgyWb6
— Express Sports (@IExpressSports) November 25, 2015
0910 hrs IST: Good decision to beef up the batting on a spin-friendly strip?
Very good toss to win. India have picked the extra batsman, Rohit Sharma, on a track made for spinners.
— Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) November 25, 2015
0900 hrs IST: Toss – India elect to bat against South Africa. The hosts make a couple of changes – Rohit Sharma in for Varun Aaron, Amit Mishra in for Stuart Binny. For South Africa, Dale Steyn still not fit
0850 hrs IST: It’s a very dry pitch, and Sunil Gavaskar feels it will be difficult to bat first and virtually impossible to bat fourth on this strip
Build Up
Umesh in for Aaron and AB at No.3?
Umesh Yadav was dropped from the India side that played the Bengaluru Test. (Source: PTI)
It was a ripper. On a turning pitch at Chinnaswamy, Varun Aaron delivered the ball of the match.
Hashim Amla was fairly new to the crease and was a little tentative while defending incoming deliveries. Last ball of the 15th over, the South Africa captain was beaten for pace and movement as the ball darted away off the deck and hit the top of the off stump.
We possibly might make a few changes: Kohli
Virat Kohli indicated that the playing XI will be decided after assessing the condition. (Source: PTI)
India’s Test captain Virat Kohli has consciously stayed away from the debate surrounding the nature of the pitches prepared for the ongoing South Africa series as he feels that these discussions are “beyond his understanding”.
Not having Steyn is a setback: Amla
South Africa will miss the services of Dale Steyn in the 3rd Test. (Source: PTI)
South Africa are unlikely to have the services of their premier pace bowler Dale Steyn for the second match running as he was yet to fully recover from a groin injury, said visiting team skipper Hashim Amla on the eve of the third and penultimate Test against India.
