A reference to the Indian Express

The Indian Express neither asked for nor published any article from Essar.

An Essar inter-office memo of August 27, 2012 states it has “lined up with Indian Express” among other newspapers “for favouring articles protecting the Indian Steel Industry.”

Another email dated August 23, 2012 from the corporate office in Mumbai to the Essar chairman’s secretariat states: “Had a detailed discussion with the Indian Express regarding the NMDC (National Mineral Development Corporation) iron ore pricing and made them agree to publish a feature on the NMDC’s unilateral pricing mechanism. IE wanted a write-up in this respect not exceeding 1000 words and also quotes from Essar, JSW, RINL and WELSPUN.”

The Indian Express neither asked for nor published any article from Essar.
