MiG-27 crashes in Jodhpur; pilot safe, two houses damaged
A MiG-27 aircraft has crashed in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Here are the latest updates

A MiG-27 aircraft of the IAF on Monday crashed in a residential area of the city, with the pilot ejecting safely. The aircraft was on a routine training sortie when it crashed at 1130 hours. There were reports of at least three people being injured.

Two houses in the area where the MiG-27 aircraft crashed were reportedly damaged. Initial reports suggest it was a training flight.
The MiG-27 flight reportedly crashed near Jodhpur airbase soon after take off. Court of inquiry has been ordered into the incident.

PTI reports that the pilot was on a routine training mission. He had reported a technical problem and sought priority landing.
The plane caught fire after the crash and fire fighters were rushed to douse the blaze.

However, as the engine had failed, he had to eject, the sources said.
Defence Spokesperson, Lt Col Manish Ojha, said, “The MiG-27 crashed at 1130 hrs. The aircraft was on a routine training sortie. The pilot ejected safely. A court of inquiry has been ordered to investigate the accident”.

The plane crashed adjacent to a house in an open area in Mahaveer Nagar, SHO Basni Police Station Rajesh Yadav told PTI.
The area has been cordoned off and police officials have reached the spot.
