Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday held talks with South African President Jacob Zuma on a wide range of issues, aimed at boosting ties in the African continent.
Saying that the safety of people of both the nations are at risk, PM Modi said: “President Zuma and I agreed that our two nations need to stay vigilant and actively combat it in our region and world.”

President Zuma and I also agreed on need to work closely on international issues and emerging global challenges, he added.
PM Modi talked about the potential to expand ties between the two counties in areas such as minerals, mining, chemicals and pharmaceuticals.
“There is potential to expand our business and investment ties further in areas of minerals, mining, chemicals and pharmaceuticals. Our struggles provide a strong foundation for our strategic partnership,” PM Modi said.
Speaking at the joint press conference, PM Modi thanked President Zuma for South Africa’s support to India’s NSG bid.
“I thank President Zuma for South Africa’s support to India’s membership in NSG. We count on active support of our friends like SA,” PM Modi said.
The prime minister also said that his visit is an opportunity to pay homage to two of the “greatest people who walked this Earth”, Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela.
PM Modi also spoke about how South Africa and India stood together against racial subjugation and colonial reign.
