Orchestra groups Tuesday took out a candle light march in Bathinda in protest against the murder of Kulwinder Kaur, the dancer who was shot dead at a marriage function Saturday night.
Manga Singh, owner of Jashn-e-Punjab orchestra group which was booked for the function at Aashriwad marriage palace where the incident took place, said, “The state government needs to look at our rights as well. This is an incident which has shocked all of us. We are artists working for our bread and butter and we too want dignity in our profession.”

Manga’s group is from Sardulgarh in Mansa district. “Two persons were dancing with guns in their hands and we had asked the hosts to prevent this. We asked these people to go away from stage, but they were drunk and did not listen. And within no time, the girl was dead in front of our eyes. We could not even imagine it could happen at a marriage function,” he said.
Meanwhile, one of the suspects, Lucky Goyal, son of former SAD councillor Vijay Goyal, was arrested Monday while his friend Sanjay Goyal, also a suspect, was arrested Sunday night.
