‘Hunterrr’ Telugu remake will be bold, emotional: Srinivas Avasarala

Srinivas will reprise Gulshan Devaiah’s role of a sex addict in the remake, which is being helmed by debutant Naveen Medaram.

“I’m yet to sign the project officially. Everything should be finalized in a few days. The film has already gone on the floors and they are currently shooting the childhood portion of the protagonist. I’ll be joining the sets in August,” he said.

While the leading ladies are yet to be finalised, the cast also includes Tanikella Bharani.

Asked if he feels Telugu audiences are open to these kinds of subjects, he said: “I don’t know. I consider myself an audience and I can’t think for others. You can’t keep the end result in mind and make a film.”

Gulshan Devaiah says he’s been waiting to continue the ‘vasugiri’ — his role as a sex addict in “Hunterrr” — in a possible sequel of the film, but he says the project is currently in the scripting stage.

Rumours are rife that his character in “Hunterrr 2” could be an “extremist” version of his character Mandar Ponkshe.

Phantom Films’ “Hunterrr” was a decent success at the box office, having connected with fans of adult comedy. It also featured Radhika Apte and Sai Tamhankar, among others.
