Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra: It was exciting to direct four newcomers in ‘Mirziya’

Rakeysh OmPrakash Mehra, who is making Mirziya with newcomers, said: "It was very exciting for me as a director. Working with youngsters makes you feel like you are reborn again."

Working with youngsters makes you feel like you are reborn again. All four are playing equally important parts in the film. While Harshvardhan, Saiyami and Anuj are debutants, Anjali has done some work before but is fairly a newcomer.”

Acclaimed director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s next offering, Mirziya will introduce four new faces to the film industry – Harshvardhan Kapoor (Anil Kapoor’s son), Saiyami Kher  (Tanvi Azmi’s niece), actors Anuj and Anjali.

Talking about his experience of working with four debutants, the 52-year old director said, “It was very exciting for me as a director. Working with youngsters makes you feel like you are reborn again. All four are playing equally important parts in the film. While Harshvardhan, Saiyami and Anuj are debutants, Anjali has done some work before but is fairly a newcomer.”

Mirziya also marks the debut of Anil Kapoor’s son, Harshvardhan Kapoor. Rakeysh, however appeared reluctant to talk about the star son when quizzed. “Rather than me talking about him, I would rather let my film talk and audience decide.”

Billed as a modern-day adaptation of Mirza-Saahiban, Mirziyan has been penned by famous lyricist Gulzar. “It is a story that is close to my heart and a huge responsibility too as Gulzar has written the screenplay, lyrics and the story. So, I had to do justice to it and hope I have delivered the same.”

For now, the makers are focusing to release the movie tentatively in May 2016.
