THE Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on Monday filed FIRs against as many as 96 people for forging documents to acquire a 270-square-feet flat each in PCMC’s Slum Rehabilitation Scheme in Sector 22 (Pradhikaran area).
Assistant Municipal Commissioner Subash Machare on Monday evening said the process of filing the FIRs was underway at Pimpri Police Station. “These people had submitted forged documents to get the flat under PCMC’s Slum Rehabilitation Scheme,” he said.

Machare said the move to file FIR was taken after a committee appointed by the PCMC submitted a report that 129 people had submitted forged documents to grab the flats. “Of the 129, we found 96 were not the persons who were allotted the flats during the draw of lots. Therefore, we had to file FIRs against them,” he said.
The residents were allotted flats for just Rs 50,000. “The flats were worth Rs 4 lakh when they were allotted. The rest of the amount came from the Central and state governments,” said BJP general secretary Sarang Kamtekar.
