Two days after the arrest of its member Virendra Tawade in connection with the 2013 murder of anti-superstition activist Narendra Dabholkar, Sanatan Sanstha and its offshoot Hindu Janjagruti Samiti (HJS) on Monday slammed the BJP-led government saying “Hindus continued to suffer in the country despite a Hindutvawadi government” in power.

Sanstha and HJS are organising “Akhil Bhartiya Hindu Adhiveshan”, a national convention of pro-Hindutva groups, in Goa from June 19 to 25.

During a press conference in Pune on Monday, Sunil Ghanwat, state convenor of HJS, said, “We believe BJP follows Hindutva. But after coming to power, BJP has not worked to the expectations of Hindus in the country. Beef exports have increased by 15 per cent since BJP came to power. Not much has been done for rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits. Ram temple issue is still not resolved. There is no action against the Bangladeshi infiltrators. Innocent Hindus are being arrested on false charges. Government has not taken a strong stand on many such issues that matter for Hindus. We would be raising all such issues during the All-India Hindu Convention in Goa in which about 215 activists representing various Hindutva groups from 21 states in India and also from Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka would be participating between June 19 to 25, 2016.”

Shambhu Gavare of Sanatan Sanstha said they had been organising national Hindu convention at Ramnathi in Goa for the last four years, with the purpose of establishing a Hindu Rashtra.

Pramod Mutalik of Shriram Sene in Karnataka and Tapan Ghosh of Hindu Samhati in Kolkata are among the speakers at the convention.

Ghanwat said they had also appealed to the RSS, Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad to participate in the convention where a joint action plan for establishing Hindu Rashtra and programmes and agitations for the next one year would be decided.

HJS and Sanatan Sanstha say the demand for a Hindu Rashtra is not unconstitutional. “In fact, as per our constitution drafted by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, we have the rights to demand a Hindu Rashtra… It will be similar to the kingdom of Shivaji Maharaj where everybody will be treated as equal. We are sure that by 2023, Hindu Rashtra will be formed,” said Ghanwat.
