PUNE DISTRICT authorities said on Monday that nearly 15 unauthorised religious structures would be demolished in the district before March 2016.
These structures, which had come up after 2009, feature on the list that has been submitted to the Bombay High Court, which had rapped the state government for not implementing the government resolution (GR) dated May 5, 2011.
The GR had classified illegal religious structures, which came up after 2009, into categories A and B. Category A stood for those old and famous religious structures, which do not interfere with the city’s Development Plan (DP), while category B stood for those that did interfere with the DP. Some of these could be regularised with the permission of the authorities concerned. The GR states that the municipal commissioner will be responsible for action within the corporation area while the district collector will be responsible for taking action in the district.
Pune revenue officials said they had readied the list of structures that mainly belonged to Shirur and Pimpri-Chinchwad New Town Development Authority (PCNTDA) which were constructed after 2009. The list mentions 2 structures from Shirur Nagar Parishad and 13 from PCNTDA.
“The action plan is ready and we have categorised the structures in three parts–those structures that can be regularised, those that have to be demolished and the structures that have to be shifted. The data has been collected from the rural areas of the 13 talukas including PCNTDA and PCMC, “ said a senior revenue department official. The same has been submitted to the court.
