Uttar Pradesh now has 14 cr voters

The total number of registered voters in Uttar Pradesh has exceeded 14 crore after the special summary revision of electorals rolls carried out across state in the last three months.
As per the EC, now there are a total of 14.05 crore voters in state —- 7.7 crore males, 6.3 crore females and 6,983 third gender —- following deletion of 17.29 lakh names while adding 33.97 lakh new ones. Before the summary revision, the state had 13.87 crore voters.
The gender ratio too has marginally improved to 829 females against per 1,000 males as compared to 828 in previous electoral roll of 2014.

Among the new voters, around 11.84 lakh (around 34.87 per cent) are between the age group of 18-19 years. Total number of voters in that age group in the state is now 35.24 lakh.
With the publication of electoral roll, the Election Commission Tuesday lifted the ban on the transfer of District Magistrates and other staff who were engaged in the summary revision, which started on October 15 and was completed on January 5.
Additional Chief Electoral Officer Ramakant Pandey said that distribution of EPIC to the newly registered voters has been started.
