West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee
EXPRESSING SHOCK at the alleged CBI raid at the office Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said the agency’s move was beyond her understanding.
“Today they have sent the CBI to raid the office of Delhi CM. I am shocked! Why are they doing this?” she said while addressing a rally at Gajole near Malda.
Claiming that the Centre was using CBI to bully political opponents, Mamata said: “Religious, political and economic intolerance is prevailing across the country. Anyone who would not echo the views of the central government, they would send some agency or the other behind them.”
Earlier on Tuesday, Mamata tweeted: “Sealing of a chief minister’s office is unprecedented. I am shocked.”
On November 26, while addressing a rally in Kolkata, she had alleged that the central government had threatened Mithun Chakraborty, Trinamool Congress MP in the Rajya Sabha, in such a way that he was afraid to speak to her.
Mamata’s statement against the CBI comes a day after Trinamool stripped its state general secretary Shankudeb Panda from all party posts. On Sunday, Panda was summoned by the CBI for questioning in the Saradha chit fund scam.
