She is in the ICU but is said to be out of danger.
A two-year-old girl was raped by a 22-year-old youth in South Delhi’s Sarojini Nagar area late on Saturday. He was arrested on Sunday evening, police said. The girl, who was badly injured during the act, was admitted to hospital where she underwent surgery. She is in the ICU but is said to be out of danger.
Sarojini Nagar police station received a PCR call at 11 pm on Saturday saying a minor girl was found bleeding profusely a little distance away from her house.
The child was playing outside her house while her parents were inside. Police said when the parents noticed their daughter was missing, they searched all over for her. They heard her crying and found her a little distance away in a deserted area. They rushed her to Safdarjung hospital and informed police. Officials from the Delhi Commission for Women visited the child at hospital as well, sources said.

The girl was admitted to the ICU. “She was operated upon on Sunday and her condition is stable. Medical examination has confirmed rape and we have registered a case under appropriate sections of the IPC and the POCSO Act,” a senior officer said.
“Over 10 police teams were formed to search the area and question all possible suspects, including neighbours,” DCP (South) Prem Nath said.
The child told her father that “uncle” had hurt her. Police rounded up all the men in the locality whom the child used to refer to as uncle or chachu. When they found that the accused was missing, they began searching for him and traced him to the railway colony from where he was arrested. He will be produced in court on Monday.
