Government snips red tape, to put all work details online

Be it digging of roads, construction of school buildings or works related to the Public Distribution System, all will be put online, Sisodia said.

“Take the example of road digging. The Delhi Jal Board cuts the road to lay pipelines, then comes a private player which wants to lay its network, and agencies which want to lay gas pipelines. The same road is dug up and not covered properly thrice. This causes a huge inconvenience to the people. They cannot even complain as there are so many agencies which would keep passing the blame. We will solve this kind of a situation soon,” Sisodia said.

Explaining how the system would work, the Deputy CM said if any department plans to dig up a road, the rest of the departments will be made aware of it online. Every agency that has submitted a project for road cutting will be updated. A message will also be sent to the respective officials. This will help agencies to coordinate their tasks and the road cutting will be done only once, Sisodia said.

After messages are sent to the respective department officials, a written process will start and the progress will be monitored on regular intervals.

Another area that, according to the deputy CM, needs more transparency is the construction of school buildings. “Our students have increased but not the infrastructure. Layout plan takes years to be passed. This will improve,” Sisodia said.

The government is also planning to put the details of MLA funds spending online. “If it is related to streetlights, even I would be able to see the online application. The JE concerned would get the message. This will mean that government officials won’t be able to shirk their responsibilities,” Sisodia said.

Food and Supplies department has made real-time information about pendency and disposal of applications for providing food security and ration cards online.
