Police on Sunday claimed to have busted a World Cup cricket betting ring by arresting 11 people and seizing Rs 62.6 lakh from them. Following a tip-off, several places in Kempegowdanagar, Hanumanthanagar and Chamarajpet police station limits were raided on Saturday, officials said on Sunday. Initially, the alleged kingpins of the racket — Laxmana, Vasudeva and Ajit— were arrested. Based on information provided by them, a police team led by Deputy Commissioner Alok Kumar nabbed eight others who were members of the racket. A total of Rs 62.6 lakh was seized from them. A hunt is on for three more persons.
