The Shiv Sena,it is learnt, has turned down ally BJPs offer to give a berth in the JPC from its quota.
Sources said Shiv Sena turned down the offer apparently to avert a potential conflict of interest because its Rajya Sabha MP Rajkumar Dhoot and his brother Venugopal Dhoot own Videocon, which is a beneficiary of 2G spectrum. The CBI had last week questioned both Venugopal and Rajkumar in connection with the probe into 2G scam.
There was no official word from Shiv Sena on why it had opted out. But after it turned down the offer, the BJP nominated its Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Gopinath Munde to the JPC.
