Petition in court seeks ban on Rajneeti

A social worker,Naseem Khan, has moved the court, seeking a ban on the release of director Prakash Jhas forthcoming film Rajneeti

A social worker,Naseem Khan, has moved the court, seeking a ban on the release of director Prakash Jhas forthcoming film Rajneeti on the ground that it defames Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and her family.

Khan,in her petition has alleged that one of the characters in the film, played by Katrina Kaif,is based on the life of Sonia Gandhi. When the movie is supposed to be based on Sonia Gandhis life, the director should have been careful and not maligned her character by showing intimate scenes, said Khan.

The Union of India in its reply has said that the film is yet to be cleared by the Censor Board and taking a step before the clearance is not essential. The court has adjourned the hearing in the case till June 10.

The political saga,featuring Ajay Devgan,Naseeruddin Shah,Nana Patekar,Arjun Rampal,Manoj Bajpai and Ranbir Kapoor,is scheduled for a June 4 release. PTI
