After key files pertaining to the pilot licence racket went missing from the Directorate General of Civil Aviations (DGCA) office, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police is all set to lodge a case of destruction of evidence.
The police said two files pertaining to the marksheet and documents related to pilots who had fraudulently obtained commercial pilots licence (CPL) from the airline regulator have gone missing.
We have asked them to give us the files. It has been over a week,we will slap additional charges of destruction of evidence in the three cases we are already investigating, said a senior police officer.
On Thursday night, the police arrested a 30-year-old pilot,Saif Mizbah, for allegedly procuring a CPL on forged documents. His two associates are still absconding.
Police said Mizbah, still unemployed, had completed his flying course from the US. Currently,on five days police remand, the accused told said he paid Rs 1.5 lakh to get the CPL.
The police said the forgery seems to be the handiwork of an insider who may have been involved in the case of the missing files.
We have arrested two separate gangs involved in issuing Airlines Transport Pilot License (ATPL) and CPLs on the basis of forged documents. The arrest of Mizbah would unearth a separate gang of middlemen and DGCA officials, said the officer.
