The director,known for his movies like Raincoat,Chokher Bali,The Last Lear,began his career in advertising.

His last release was Chitrangada,which was based on Rabindra Nath Tagore’s writing.

Ritupano Ghosh was in the middle of directing a film on the hit TV series Byomkesh Bakshi.

Director Sujoy Ghosh ofKahaani was to play the legendary Bengali detective in his directorial venture.
