Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is the sitting MP from Wayanad in Kerala, filed his nomination papers from the Lok Sabha seat on Wednesday after holding a large roadshow populated with supporters carrying placards bearing the 53-year-old leader's photograph. In his nomination papers, the Congress leader declared his total assets in 2024 as worth Rs. 20.4 crore. In comparison to this, he had declared assets worth Rs 15.89 crore in 2019. Of the total assets, Rahul has declared movable assets of Rs. 9.25 crore and immovable assets of Rs. 11.15 crore. Additionally, he has declared liabilities worth Rs 49.79 lakh. The leader also declared that he has an M.Phil from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. He has 18 pending FIRs and one defamation conviction against him. Meanwhile, his competitor Annie Raja of the CPI is a first-time contestant. The 60-year-old leader is a member of the Communist Party of India's National Executive Committee and the chief of General Secretary of National Federation of Indian Women. She is married to CPI general secretary D Raja and has one daughter. In her nomination papers, Annie Raja has declared total assets worth Rs. 1.61 crore, of which Rs. 89.44 lakh is in movable assets and Rs. 71.69 lakh in immovable assets. She has declared that she has no financial liabilities. Annie, who hails from Kannur district, has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Calicut in Kerala. She has one pending criminal case FIR for IPC offences.
