Explained: The Citizenship Bill controversy

On Tuesday the Lok Sabha passed the Citizenship Bill. Since then it has caused significant outrage particularly in the Northeast states. The bill, which has been introduced by the BJP government, has faced protests by student and political organizations and has led to agitations, shutdowns in the north east states and a political alliance being broken off. In this episode we look at what the citizenship bill is, the kind of outrage it has sparked and how it conflicts with National Register of Citizens and the Assam Accord.
