WATCH: Small plane, with 2 on board, crash lands on Australian golf course

A light single-engine aircraft with a flight instructor and a student pilot aboard, both believed to be in their 50s, made a crash landing on a golf course in Australia’s Sydney on Sunday at about 2pm (local time), in an apparent flying lesson gone wrong. No major injury has been reported in the incident.

The aircraft, which was on a training flight, crashed at the Mona Vale Golf Course along Sydney’s Northern Beaches, reported BBC. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) confirmed that it is investigating the incident.

Footage showed the Piper Cherokee plane flying low over the golf course, before quickly hitting the ground. Debris of the plane from the crash could be seen on the ground as the shocked golfers witnessed the crash.

Authorities told local media outlet Manly Observer that both instructor and the passenger received medical treatment for minor injuries. A report in the outlet stated that the trainee pilot received face lacerations, while both the injured persons were given first aid until the paramedics arrived.

According to a NSW ambulance spokesperson, both the injured persons were transported to the Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition, reported New York Post quoting NewsWire.

The Sydney police said the matter is now being investigated by the ATSB. Meanwhile, the ATSB confirmed that the plane was a Piper Cherokee and it was being flown by a flight instructor and a student.

The exact reason of the crash remains to be investigated but reports suggested that there was engine trouble in the plane which is yet to be verified.
