Two people stabbed in Canada’s Vancouver, suspect shot by police

According to witnesses, a suspect stole a knife and liquor from a restaurant and thereafter started attacking people in a nearby 7-Eleven store.

Police in Canada’s Vancouver city have said that a suspect was shot dead by police officers in a convenience store after he allegedly stabbed two people.

Vancouver police informed that the two people who were stabbed by the deceased accused have received injuries but they are not life threatening, while adding that the accused died at a hospital after officers shot him.

According to witnesses, a suspect stole a knife and liquor from a restaurant and thereafter started attacking people in a nearby 7-Eleven store, as reported by Associated Press.

“One of the kitchen guys came out, asked if he could help him, and the guy grabbed the knife and asked him if he wanted to die,” said Kylie Noel, who was working at the Original Joe’s restaurant at Robson and Hamilton streets in downtown Vancouver. Her co-worker immediately told her to call the police.

In a post on X, the Vancouver police said, “Two people have been wounded and a suspect shot by police following a stabbing near Library Square this morning. The Independent Investigations Office has been notified.”

As per the AP report, a video captured by a student and part-time food delivery worker, Mainul Islam showed the police entering the 7-Eleven store pointing their guns over the counter and shouting to “come over” and then firing at least 10 times.

Mainul said, “And he just brought out his knife from his pocket, and he tried to stab…the guy, but he ran away, and then he went to stab that lady. Maybe he already stabbed that lady in the back, I saw blood, but she was OK.”

Vancouver Police responded at 11:34 am to a 911 call from staff at a restaurant near Robson and Hamilton Street. The caller reported a man had stolen alcohol and was armed with a knife inside the restaurant.
