During the first Cabinet meeting of US President Donald Trump’s administration on Wednesday, billionaire Elon Musk remained the centre of discussion as the Republican president backed him and his team at DOGE to slash government spending and cut the federal workforce, while revealing that some members of his Cabinet “disagree a little bit” with Musk.

“They have a lot of respect for Elon and that he’s doing this, and some disagree a little bit, but I will tell you for the most part I think everyone’s not only happy, they’re thrilled,” Trump said about Musk, while allowing the world’s richest person to address the meeting even though he is not a member of the Cabinet.

In a joking manner, Trump asked “Anybody unhappy with Elon? If you are, then we’ll throw them out of here,” which prompted the Cabinet members seated around the table to applause at varying levels in the Cabinet room.

Last week, Musk sent an email to the entire federal workforce to detail about the five things they did in the past seven days. Musk even claimed on X that those who don’t respond to the mail in stipulated time, will risk losing their jobs.

However, several federal agencies told their workers including Kash Patel led-FBI to ignore the mail by Musk. During the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Musk said that the email was meant to identify employees who may be getting paid without showing up to work and Trump had passed it.
