(AP/ Representational)A taxi jumped a sidewalk and hit pedestrians in New York outside a Macy’s department store on Christmas Day when the taxi driver suffered a medical episode, the New York police said.
The incident, which took place in Midtown Manhattan near Macy’s flagship store in Herald Square, injured at least seven people on Wednesday, the police said. The accident site is near the corner of West 34th Street and Avenue of the Americas, or Sixth Avenue.
The store is decorated with full elaboration for Christmas and New Year and is an attraction point for tourists and New Yorkers around the holiday season.

The taxi driver who suffered the medical episode is 58 years old. The injured include a 9-year-old boy, alongside two women aged 49 and four other women aged 19, 37 and 41, the police further said.
Out of the seven people who were injured, three were taken to the hospital for treatment. The 9-year-old boy suffered a cut, one of the 49-year-old women suffered leg injury and the 41-year-old woman who suffered injuries to her head.
The other three people who were hurt in the accident declined medical treatment, while all the injuries reported were non-life threatening, the police added.
