The Israeli Air Force launched several interceptor missiles to shoot down the fragments which later fell across several locations in central Israel.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Friday said that the Houthi missile launched from Yemen at Israel on Friday night likely broke up in the air during its descent.

The Israeli Air Force launched several interceptor missiles to shoot down the fragments, the military said. According to reports, fragments from the missiles fell across several locations in central Israel. The IDF said it is investigating the incident.

Sirens sounded across Israel

Earlier, the IDF confirmed that sirens sounded across several areas in Israel, including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, following the Houthi projectile fire from Yemen.

Videos posted on social media showed what appears to be a ballistic missile over the skies in Central Israel.

Yemen-based Houthi rebels are one of the many Iranian proxies in the region, fighting against Israel.
