Trump Musk trade policies: After his public fallout with Elon Musk and amid signs that a pause in hostilities may be possible, Donald Trump dismissed the idea of reconciling with the billionaire, telling ABC News he was “not particularly” interested in speaking to him.

But the US President seemed not to care about Musk’s offer. In a conversation with CNN, he again dismissed the possibility of a conversation.

“I’m not even thinking about Elon. He’s got a problem — the poor guy’s got a problem,” Trump told CNN on Friday morning.

Earlier, Politico too reported that the White House had scheduled a call with Musk on Friday to broker a peace deal after both men traded verbal blows on Thursday. But later in the day, multiple reports suggested there was no call set up between the two men.

The spat – which played out over social media started off after Trump during a White House appearance said he was “very disappointed in Elon” over Musk’s criticism of his tax and spending bill.  Musk swiftly responded by saying that the President’s trade policies would cause a recession and raised Trump’s connections to convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In response to a Trump threat to cancel his US government contracts, Musk posted on X that he would retire his Dragon spacecraft, which is used by Nasa. He later backtracked, writing: “Good advice. Ok, we won’t decommission Dragon.”

Tensions had been mounting since Musk, who stepped down last week as head of the DOGE, publicly denounced Trump’s sweeping tax-cut and spending bill.
