Erika Kirk, widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, spoke for the first time on Friday since her husband was shot dead at Utah Valley University. Erika expressed her gratitude to law enforcement for arresting the suspect behind her husband’s killing. She said authorities “worked tirelessly to capture my husband’s assassin so that he can be brought to justice.”
The 36-year-old thanked President Donald Trump and his family, saying, “My husband loved you,” and also thanked Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, for their support in bringing Charlie’s body home to Phoenix aboard Air Force Two. Erika extended her gratitude to the Turning Point USA staff, including Chief of Staff Michael McCoy, for their support during this difficult time.
“Charlie always said that when he was gone, he wanted to be remembered for his courage and for his faith,” she said. My husband, “will stand at his savior’s side wearing the glorious crown of a martyr,” she added.
“He loved his life,” Erika Kirk said in her first public appearance on CBS Live after Charlie’s assassination in Utah. “He loved America. He loved nature, which always helped bring him closer to God. He loved the Chicago Cubs, and my goodness, did he love the Oregon Ducks.” She added, “most of all, Charlie loved his children, and he loved me with all of his heart, and I knew that every day.”
Charlie Kirk’s planned university tour, “The American Comeback Tour,” will continue despite his death, his wife Erika Kirk said Friday evening. “There will be even more tours in the years to come,” she added. Turning Point USA’s annual conference, Americafest, will also take place in Phoenix, Arizona, this December.
She added, “In a world full of chaos, doubt, and uncertainty, my husband’s voice will remain. It will ring out louder and clearer than ever, and his wisdom will endure., The movement my husband built will not die. I refuse to let that happen,” she said. “No one will ever forget my husband’s name, and I will make sure of it.”
During her speech, Erika shared a heartbreaking from the night she returned home, when their three-year-old daughter asked, “Where’s daddy?” “I said, ‘Baby, daddy loves you so much,’” she recalled. “‘Don’t you worry. He’s on a work trip with Jesus so he can afford your blueberry budget.’” She concluded with a message to her late husband: “I can’t wait to see you again one day.”
Erika Kirk, 36, is a former Miss Arizona, NCAA basketball player, and a ministry leader. She has a Juris Master’s in American Legal Studies and is currently pursuing a doctorate in Biblical Studies. Beyond her academic and philanthropic work, she runs a faith-based clothing line, PROCLAIM, and a nonprofit called Everyday Heroes Like You. The couple, after crossing paths in 2018, married in 2021 and have two young children — a three-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son.
Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, accompanied Erika as Charlie’s body was transported back to Phoenix via Air Force Two on September 11. US President Donald Trump confirmed Charlie’s death and sent condolences to Erika and their children, describing Charlie as “loved and admired by ALL, especially me.
