At least 6 killed, including 4 children, in house fire in Maryland’s Charles County
One person managed to escape the fire at the home in Waldorf, about 55 miles (88 kilometers) south of Baltimore, Associated Press reported.

In a tragic incident reported from Maryland, US, at least six people have died, including four children after a fire engulfed a house in Waldorf, Charles County on Sunday morning, authorities said.
On Sunday at about 8:40am, the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department responded to the big fire incident reported at 3000 block of Declaration Court North with people trapped inside the house. Firefighters reportedly said that it took around an hour to douse the fire.
A report in NBC Washington stated that Master Deputy State Fire Marshal Oliver Alkire confirmed that six people, which includes four children and two adults, died in the fire incident.

One person managed to escape the fire at the home in Waldorf, about 55 miles (88 kilometers) south of Baltimore, Associated Press reported.
Fire Marshal Alkire said that a total of nine people lived in the house and six were pronounced dead after the major fire incident at the house. However, two of them were not at the home when the fire ripped the house and one of them escaped alive.
The cause of the fire still remains under investigation. Alkire said the fire took place on the right side of the home within an enclosed porch. As of Sunday evening, the ages and names of the victims were not released by the authorities.
About 70 firefighters were deployed at the scene to control the blaze, and it took around an hour for the fire to come under control. One of the firefighters was hospitalized and another first responder was treated at the scene for unspecified injuries.
Fire Marshal Alkire said that officials weren’t immediately clear if the house had a working fire alarm system.
