YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner Elvish Yadav was booked by Gurgaon police for allegedly beating up fellow YouTuber Sagar Thakur over social media rivalry, the police said.

Inspector Rajender Singh, SHO Sector 53 police station said Yadav had called Thakur to Southpoint Mall on Golf Course Road to talk. “It was at a shop owned by Yadav’s acquaintance… the moment he came in, he started beating Thakur up,” he said.

Who is Yadav?

Yadav won Bigg Boss OTT 2 in 2023 and became a household name. Having entered Bigg Boss OTT 2 mid-way, he was the first wild card winner of the show, beating Abhishek Malhan, who was declared as the runner-up.

The YouTuber also has over 16 million following on Instagram.

In November 2023, Yadav came in the spotlight after he was named in an FIR in connection with allegedly running an organised group that sells snake venom at rave parties in the NCR. The YouTuber claimed he was innocent.

In a 58-second video on X, he said, “… All allegations made against me are completely baseless… (and) fake… I am ready to cooperate with UP Police… I request police, administration, and UP CM Yogi Adityanath that if they find even 0.1% of my involvement in this, I’m ready to accept all charges…”

Even his Big Boss win was marred by controversies after there was buzz around him being backed by political leaders. Leaders such as Tej Pratap Yadav, Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga and Smriti Irani had mentioned him on his social media posts. However, showing surprise, he said, “Be it politicians, celebs or social media influencers, I want to thank them for supporting me. However, honestly, I did not seek any backing or did not keep a team to promote me like this.”
