Shani Jayanti 2025: Shani Jayanti, also known as Shanichar Jayanti or Shani Amavasya, is a significant Hindu observance dedicated to the deity Shani Dev, associated with the planet Saturn and the weekday Saturday.

According to Hindu scriptures, Shani Dev was born to Surya Dev (the Sun God) and his consort Chhaya (also known as Swarna in some texts).

It is an auspicious Hindu observance celebrated on the new moon day of the month of Jyeshtha of the North Indian Purnimant calendar. In 2025, it will be observed on May 27, falling on a Tuesday, as stated in Drik Panchang.

On Shani Jayanti, devotees observe a fast to please Lord Shani and visit Shani temples to seek the blessings of Lord Shani, marked by havan, homa, and yagya to please Lord Shani.

The most important rituals performed on the day of Shani Jayanti are Shani Tailabhishekam (ritual oil bathing) and Shani Shanti Puja (pacification rites for Lord Shani)..

It is believed that Lord Shani believes in fair justice and bestows good fortune and prosperity on his devotees and also on those who worship Mahadev with immense devotion and dedication, since Shani Dev was a devoted follower of Lord Shiva.
