Know eligibility, the application process, and more (Source: Express Photo)Ahead of the elections, as a part of the new initiative under the ‘Ama Odisha, Nabin Odisha’ scheme, the state government of Odisha announced on Monday the launch of the ‘Nabin Odisha Magic Card.’
A ‘Passport to Prosperity,’ this card aims to facilitate the academic, personality and skill development, and employment of youth, thereby enabling them to move forward and create a platform to achieve their dreams.
It will be a point-based smart card that will measure, honour, and value every involvement of the student in terms of their academic achievements, creativity, sports achievements, and social and community work.
Along similar lines, the Odisha government stated in a recent release that “this card will be based on points earned through various activities and parameters and be upgraded to Silver, Gold, and Platinum levels, as per the performance of students in terms of attendance, discipline, academic performance, participation in extracurricular activities, sports, online courses, personality development courses, so on and so forth.”
The release further stated that these cards provide access to various facilities, including bus/train concessions, phone/data recharge and Wi-Fi, e-libraries, online academic courses, personality development courses and workshops, coaching centres and tuition classes, skill development courses, career counselling, language courses including Odia and English, “Earn While You Learn” opportunities, volunteering opportunities, access to stadiums during national and international tournaments, access to journals and seminars, and access to tourist places, museums, etc.
It aims to build a LinkedIn-type platform for the students and equip them with job and placement opportunities via data sharing with potential recruiting companies and interacting with industry expertise, in addition to integrating the Start-Up ecosystem that encourages students to aspire to become entrepreneurs and providing priority loans under various government schemes like Swayam and more.
5T (Transformational Initiatives: Teamwork, Technology, Transparency, Transformation and Time) Chairman VK Pandian stated in the press that the card’s registration process will begin on March 5, 2024, followed by the distribution of the card on August 15, 2024. He added, “The government will take further input from the students and teachers on the various activities that can be included in this points system. The card will be completely technology-driven and will be a revolutionary concept towards youth engagement and empowerment.”
