Tweets from several activists, politicians among others flooded the social media network to mark the occasion of World Environment Day on Friday, June 5.

The United Nations Environment Programme set the theme of 2015 World Environment Day as ‘Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care’, which was retweeted by several accounts including the All India Radio.

Encouraging fellow Indian to plant more trees and treasure them like their worldly possesions, PM Narendra Modi posted a photograph of him planting a Kadam sapling.

Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar also used Twitter to convey a message.

Even corporate organisations like Tata have taken to social media to raise awareness on environmental issues, others like Coca-Cola have chosen to launch an initiative on the social media platform.

Prominent politians also lived up to their social responsibility of voicing the importance of sustainance of environment.
