Whether we like it or not, the society we live in, some way or the other is full of gender stereotypes. From pre-defined gender roles, jobs to body stats, everything is judged in a certain way. Many of us, intentionally or unintentionally tend to abide by these norms, hence falling in the existing vicious circle.
Focusing on these stereotypes and in an urge to break them, Lifestyle brand has launched a new advertisement via a video titled ‘#ImperfectlyPerfect Ginger Girl’. The 1:31 minute long clip begins with highlighting the usual beliefs and labels surrounding woman and their physical appearance. Whether it’s their looks, colour or the way they dress, woman are always judged. Hence, speaking out against these conceptions, the video celebrates women and urges them to be ‘unapologetic’ about how they are.
This is not the first time a brand has tried to address stereotypes and social issues in Indian society. Reebok’s ‘Girls Can Fight’ ad featuring Kangana Ranaut is one such example. In fact, ads highlighting homosexuality have also been made by brands like Anouk and Fastrack.
