Video of ex-cricketer Vinod Kambli struggling to walk shocks internet, fans react: ‘Extremely sad’

A video of former India cricketer Vinod Kambli struggling to walk amid a busy road has sparked chatter among sports enthusiasts on social media. The 52-year-old was seen struggling to maintain his balance and had to be helped by a passersby.

In a 51-second-long video shared by Pune Times Mirror on X, Kambli can be seen taking a motorcycle’s support to steady himself while the person sharing the video can be heard saying, “Kambli hai bhai. Maa kasam, Kambli hai (He is Kambli bro! I swear on my mom he is Kambli).” Soon, a few passersby can be seen helping him.

“He first took the support of a parked bike to walk. When the people saw his condition, they helped him reach the place. The video was shared by Narendra Gupta,” the post read.

Shared on August 5, the video amassed more than 2,63,000 views and several social media users expressed their shock on the video. A user wrote, “Sad to see such a talented former Indian cricketer in this condition. Wish him good health and happiness.” Another user commented, “The cricket fraternity needs to do something for him…I hope his friends are rallying behind him…heartbreaking to see him like this…”

“Extremely sad to see Kambli this situation….what a star he was ….if possible see his mirror image batting (righty kambli )….his batting absolutely replicate Sachin,” a third user wrote.

In 2013, Kambli suffered a cardiac arrest in Mumbai. Before that, he had an angioplasty on two of his blocked arteries.

Kambli, the first cricketer to score a century in a One-Day International, appeared as a commentator on many television channels and worked with a Marathi news channel as a cricket expert for the 2019 Cricket World Cup.
